Tips for Choosing Quality Mobile Storage
If you're planning to move or renovate your home, you'll probably benefit from using mobile storage. However, before you call just any storage outfit, do your homework first.
When you compare mobile storage companies, be sure to ask how the portable storage container is constructed. For example, it's important that the container has an integrated roof system (vs. a roof cap) to ensure it is watertight. It's also beneficial if the roof is bowed, so water naturally runs off, as well as translucent, so you have optimal visibility while working inside.
Ask, too, about the mechanism for strapping your belongings to the walls. You'll want something substantial like an e-track or channel system (vs. eye hooks). And, don't forget to inquire about the materials constructing the container. You'll want a sturdy container made of steel and fiberglass (vs. wood, plastic and tarps). Wood tends to invite moisture, mold and insects.
Last, but not least, you need to know whether the company offers a warehouse and if it's climate or temperature controlled. You definitely want a temperature-controlled (heat and A/C) warehouse to ensure your belongings remain safe from the elements.
With just a little time and effort, you'll be able to make a sound decision that will pay dividends and afford you peace of mind.

Superb Customer Service & A Great Product
"We were amazed at how easy UNITS made our temporary storage needs. This was the perfect solution for moving large furniture and other items out of our house while we had our hardwood floors refinished. The staff at UNITS is incredibly efficient and friendly. They really do have a customer satisfaction focus!
As for the unit itself, I could not have been more pleased and surprised. The unit is very sturdy, clean, and functioned flawlessly. We rented during the "heavy" snow/rain storms recently and the unit handled it with ease.
I'd also like to point out that the driver contacted me prior to drop off to confirm how I'd like to position the unit on my driveway. I got home and found my unit positioned exactly as requested!
Ask about specials when getting a quote.
UNITS is everything you'll need at a great price and the folks running the place are top notch.
THANKS!"

Learn the Three "P's" of Moving
Whether it’s another state, across town or even just down the street, a move is still a move – and they’re all difficult. Don’t be fooled into thinking that a shorter distance makes things that much easier, because preparation for any move, big or small, requires some thinking about how to handle the three “P’s” of relocation: planning, packing and the process.
Planning
You wouldn’t start a project at work or around the house without a plan, and you shouldn’t move without one either. First and foremost, decide whether you’re going to move yourself or hire some assistance. Figure out how you are going to handle the big things before you think about all the small stuff. Do you need to rent a truck? If so, how big of one and for how long? Also consider how much you really have. Chances are, it’s more than you’re anticipating, so think about when you need to start moving things out and where you’re going to put them. It’s sometimes shocking to see what’s lurking in the back of the closet, down in the basement or up in the attic after you’ve been in one place for several years. Mobile storage containers can be a wonderful thing, especially for anyone who needs to start the process early and get as much out of the old house before moving day as possible.
Packing
Moves are all about making the most of your space and moving as much as possible in a short amount of time - that starts with boxes and organization. Most mobile storage companies sell a wide variety of boxes (e.g. wardrobes, dish packs) and other pertinent packing supplies, which saves you a lot of time and effort. After you’ve got the boxes, the next step is to figure out what stays and what can go.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking everything is essential, because something that’s just filling space in a cabinet, closet or cupboard in one house is just going to do the same at another. Pack a little bit every night. One more box each day leading up to a big move can make a big difference. Organize your things in a way that makes sense to you, take everything you need and get rid of what you don’t. For most movers, a trip to a local thrift store or nonprofit can save a lot of time, space and frustration when its time to unload and unpack.
The Process
Efficiency is always the goal. Use every bit of your space, whether it’s a car, truck, mobile storage unit or anything else. Why make two trips when you could do one, or even five trips where you can do it in four? Make the most of each load, and make every trip and every inch count.
When you get to your destination and start to unload, go ahead and take things to where they need to be. If something is destined for the bedroom, take it there and don’t just drop it off inside the front door. The same goes for things like holiday decorations that you know are destined for the attic. Go ahead and get those things to where they need to be so you don’t have to deal with them again.
It’s tempting to just get everything inside and drop it, especially at the end of a long moving day, but in the long run it will just make the unpacking process that much harder.
A few minutes of planning can go a very long way when it comes to a move, regardless of how many miles you’re actually trying to go. Think about the three “P’s” ahead of time so when the day arrives, you know what to expect, what to do and where to put everything when you finally get there.

Top Tips for Choosing Mobile Storage
When comparing portable storage companies, keep these three things in mind: product quality, customer service and storage options.
Product Quality
Follow these three guidelines when comparing the quality of each product: determine if the storage container will be watertight, understand how your belongings will be secured during transit, and clarify how you will see while inside the container. Unlike some of its leading competitors, UNITS storage containers have an integrated roof structure (vs. roof cap), which keeps the container watertight. The roof itself is both bowed and translucent, which promotes the natural roll-off of water and allows for optimal visibility while working inside the container. UNITS containers also feature an e-racking system, which allows belongings to be safely secured to the walls of the storage container.
Customer Service
Find out if you’re dealing with a local office or a call center. Do you need a mobile storage container delivered right away or can it wait? As a locally owned and operated franchise, UNITS Mobile Storage offers you personal, gold standard service. We can also provide quick turnaround service on most last minute requests. Many companies require several days advance notice.
Storage Options
Do you have antiques or fine furniture you wish to have stored in a temperature-controlled warehouse? Be sure to ask if a company’s warehouse offers both heat and A/C. Many simply offer heat in the winter months. UNITS Mobile Storage offers heat and A/C in its secure, state-of-the-art warehouse.
By researching and comparing these key elements, you’ll eliminate any surprises and ensure your valuable belongings will be stored in a secure, watertight mobile storage container.

Make Winter Moving Easier
Moving in Cold Weather
Moving is a tough ordeal to put a family through any time of the year, much less during the winter months. But, sometimes the need to relocate is out of one's control due to a big life change, such as accepting a new job or opportunity, which may force your family to pack up and relocate during the cold winter months. If your move is across the state or across the country, the task becomes that much harder. It’s not just being out in the arctic weather that makes the situation difficult, it’s having to keep a close eye on the extreme weather that could affect your transportation plans (e.g. packers, movers, closing deadlines).
One way to help to make the process easier is by selecting a moving service that can help make loading and transporting your items as easy as possible. UNITS Mobile Storage provides the convenience and expertise in transporting your items to help make moving during the cold winter months a snap. This is done by taking one of the most difficult parts of moving in the winter months out of the equation: traveling.
Convenience in Packing Your Items
One of the hardest parts of using a delivery truck in the winter is having to rush to load the truck, move your items and return the truck, all before your deadline so you avoid any of those pesky extra fees. Having to rush packing and traveling is never a good idea, especially during the winter, when the roads are at their most treacherous. UNITS Mobile Storage removes this added stress by delivering your moving and storage containers directly to your home or place of business for you to load at your leisure. There is no pressure to meet tight deadlines nor restrictions on the time you have to load your belongings. This allows you to take time to carefully pack and load your valuable possessions and choose the right days (and weather) to pack your items.
Transporting Your Belongings
Winter makes going anywhere difficult. Traveling with all or most your possessions only magnifies the situation. Winter brings the hardest travel time of the year with snow and ice, which can often make roads slick and unpredictable. This is certainly not the best time for you to get behind the wheel of a bulky moving truck for the first time. UNITS Mobile Storage can take this task off your hands by picking up your storage container when you are finished packing and transporting it directly to your new home for you. Let an expert in winter driving handle your delivery for you.

UNITS Kudzu Review
Great Experience
"We had a pipe burst which led to a flooded garage. We were able to get the Unit the next day after we called. Service was great! Then when we were done and ready for it to be picked up they came the very next morning after our call. This may seem like a minor detail but when you are dealing with several other vendors at the same time for dumpsters etc and we had to keep calling and calling them to come pick up their items, so the quick response/service we received from Units was a breath of fresh air!"

Moving? You Need Boxes
Moving? You can never have enough packing boxes. Make sure you invest in clean, sturdy boxes. When it comes to packing, you’ll be glad you did. Boxes stack much easier when they are the same size and strength. It’s tempting to snag extra boxes from the grocery store or retail shops, but they can be soiled or slashed, which could adversely affect your belongings.
In addition to a wide variety of boxes, UNITS offers packing paper, bubble wrap, stretch wrap, tape, tape guns, disc padlocks, mattress covers, cambuckle straps, hand trucks, and much more. We’ll even buy back any unused supplies at full price. You can have any/all supplies and accessories delivered at the same time as your UNITS mobile storage container. If you need boxes or other packing and moving supplies, call UNITS at 678-838-6556.

Storage Containers for Green Building
UNITS Mobile Storage of Atlanta is donating several portable storage containers to The Hoots Group, a leading green builder in the Southeast, for the 2010 Southern Building Show Earthcraft House certified project, Midtown Green House. The Hoots Group is using the containers to securely store building materials and equipment during construction of the green home.
Prior to the demolition of the older home on the property, Mark Galey, founder and president of Magnet Construction, removed several windows, doors and cabinets from the home to donate to the Atlanta Fuller Center for Housing, a volunteer, non-profit housing ministry focused on home repairs for the needy. http://www.youtube.com/wat ch?v=yeStHvqnaX8
UNITS Mobile Storage has donated the storage space needed for these reusable materials, while the Fuller Center locates a warehouse or retail outlet to store and sell these items to the public.
“The primary benefits of using mobile storage for contractor jobs are fewer materials go to the landfill since they can be reused and recycled into new projects, and the donors receive tax credits by recycling, which is still a net positive even when adding in the nominal cost of portable storage,” said Stefanie Miller, owner of UNITS Mobile Storage of Atlanta. “It’s exciting to have this opportunity to work with The Hoots Group on their green project and to help Mark Galey with his efforts at the Fuller Center.”
The Hoots Group will be showcasing its new Earthcraft House certified home through its various stages of construction, all of which is being documented on http://midtowngreen.net/.

Select Sturdy Portable Storage
If you're planning to move or renovate your home, you'll probably need mobile storage. However, remember to do your homework first.
When you compare companies, be sure you ask how the portable storage container is constructed. For example, it's important that the container has an integrated roof system (vs. a roof cap) to ensure it is watertight. It's also beneficial if the roof is bowed, so water naturally runs off, and if it's translucent, so you can see while working inside. Ask about the method for strapping your belongings to the walls. You'll want something substantial like an e-rack or channel system (vs. eye hooks). And, don't forget to inquire about what the container is made of. You'll want a sturdy container made of steel and fiberglass (vs. wood and tarps). Wood invites moisture, mold and insects. Last, but not least, you need to know whether the company has a warehouse and if it's climate or temperature controlled. You definitely want a temperature-controlled (heat and A/C) warehouse to ensure your belongings remain safe from the elements.
With just a little research, you'll be able to make a sound decision that will pay dividends and afford you peace of mind.

Store Seasonal Items
With spring on the horizon, you may find yourself thinking of ways to tidy up your home. Cleaning has always been synonymous with spring, but beyond getting out your cleaning supplies, sorting and storing seasonal items at the start of each year is a great way to stay organized and create more room in your home. However, there is no rule that says you have to actually wait until spring to begin the cleaning, organizing, and storing process. By packing and storing seasonal items you won't need until the spring and summer months, you can free up some much needed space around the house.
Although, once these seasonal items are packed up and ready to be stored away, there’s not always a place to put them. Some homes lack a basement or extra space in the garage or attic to use for storage. So, some of us have to instead look at using a spare bedroom, coat closet, or some other available space that can serve as a makeshift storage unit until these items are needed again. Fortunately, there are other options available in terms of additional storage space.
One of the most convenient options is mobile storage. Portable storage units not only provide a hassle-free, affordable and temperature-controlled (heat and A/C) way to store items, they also afford more space in your home throughout the year. A mobile storage unit can be dropped off in your driveway, right by your door, and remain on site for as long as you may need it. You use your own master lock on the unit and keep the key to ensure maximum security of your belongings throughout the time in storage. If keeping the storage container on site doesn’t suit you, most companies will store the unit in their warehouse.
The bottom line is everyone has different belongings and items they may want to store each season. Some common off-season items you might want to store this winter could include:
Holiday Decorations
· Lights, household decorations, Christmas trees, lawn displays, ornaments, wrapping paper
Spring/Summer Sports Equipment
· Basketballs, water skis, bicycles, and golf clubs
Yard and Home Equipment
· Rakes, lawnmowers, weed-eaters, gardening supplies
Summer/Fall Clothing and Accessories
· Shorts, T-shirts, shoes and sandals
· Bathing suits and towels, and plastic or inflatable pools and toys
· Boating equipment and camping supplies
Don't forget, now is the time to prepare your house so that when spring comes around you can just head to your storage unit and exchange your winter items for your spring and summer ones and have more time to enjoy fun in the sun!

Mobile Storage Review: "Excellent Service!"
Great Product
"Excellent service! The furniture was stored clean and dry for two months while our kitchen and living room were repaired from the September storm damage. It was delivered and later picked up promptly and courteously."
