Store Seasonal Items

With spring on the horizon, you may find yourself thinking of ways to tidy up your home. Cleaning has always been synonymous with spring, but beyond getting out your cleaning supplies, sorting and storing seasonal items at the start of each year is a great way to stay organized and create more room in your home.

However, there is no rule that says you have to actually wait until spring to begin the cleaning, organizing, and storing process. By packing and storing seasonal items you won't need until the spring and summer months, you can free up some much needed space around the house.

Although, once these seasonal items are packed up and ready to be stored away, there’s not always a place to put them. Some homes lack a basement or extra space in the garage or attic to use for storage. So, some of us have to instead look at using a spare bedroom, coat closet, or some other available space that can serve as a makeshift storage unit until these items are needed again. Fortunately, there are other options available in terms of additional storage space.

One of the most convenient options is mobile storage. Portable storage units not only provide a hassle-free, affordable and temperature-controlled  (heat and A/C) way to store items, they also afford more space in your home throughout the year. A mobile storage unit can be dropped off in your driveway, right by your door, and remain on site for as long as you may need it. You use your own master lock on the unit and keep the key to ensure maximum security of your belongings throughout the time in storage. If keeping the storage container on site doesn’t suit you, most companies will store the unit in their warehouse.

The bottom line is everyone has different belongings and items they may want to store each season. Some common off-season items you might want to store this winter could include:

Holiday Decorations
·  Lights, household decorations, Christmas trees, lawn displays, ornaments, wrapping paper
Spring/Summer Sports Equipment
·  Basketballs, water skis, bicycles, and golf clubs
Yard and Home Equipment
·  Rakes, lawnmowers, weed-eaters, gardening supplies
Summer/Fall Clothing and Accessories
·  Shorts, T-shirts, shoes and sandals
·  Bathing suits and towels, and plastic or inflatable pools and toys
·  Boating equipment and camping supplies

Don't forget, now is the time to prepare your house so that when spring comes around you can just head to your storage unit and exchange your winter items for your spring and summer ones and have more time to enjoy fun in the sun!
