Storage Containers for Green Building

UNITS Mobile Storage of Atlanta is donating several portable storage containers to The Hoots Group, a leading green builder in the Southeast, for the 2010 Southern Building Show Earthcraft House certified project, Midtown Green House. The Hoots Group is using the containers to securely store building materials and equipment during construction of the green home.

Prior to the demolition of the older home on the property, Mark Galey, founder and president of Magnet Construction, removed several windows, doors and cabinets from the home to donate to the Atlanta Fuller Center for Housing, a volunteer, non-profit housing ministry focused on home repairs for the needy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeStHvqnaX8

UNITS Mobile Storage has donated the storage space needed for these reusable materials, while the Fuller Center locates a warehouse or retail outlet to store and sell these items to the public.

“The primary benefits of using mobile storage for contractor jobs are fewer materials go to the landfill since they can be reused and recycled into new projects, and the donors receive tax credits by recycling, which is still a net positive even when adding in the nominal cost of portable storage,” said Stefanie Miller, owner of UNITS Mobile Storage of Atlanta. “It’s exciting to have this opportunity to work with The Hoots Group on their green project and to help Mark Galey with his efforts at the Fuller Center.”

The Hoots Group will be showcasing its new Earthcraft House certified home through its various stages of construction, all of which is being documented on http://midtowngreen.net/.
